OKLAHOMA FILM + MUSIC SPOTLIGHT
AVRIL SPEAKS | film producer
The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO)’s “Oklahoma Film + Music Spotlight” features various filmmakers, musicians and industry leaders who have experienced the positive benefits of making film and music in Oklahoma.
March’s Spotlight features Avril Speaks, one of the producers of the Oklahoma film “Hosea”, which screened at the 2019 deadCenter Film Festival last summer. Upon arriving to the state for the first time, she was immediately convinced that the film needed to be produced in Oklahoma having witnessed its distinct, un-replicable landscapes, as well as a warm welcome from our local communities. Keeping to her word of “I would do it again in a heartbeat”, Speaks is currently producing on her second film in Oklahoma utilizing the state’s rebate program.

New Administrative Rules for the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program
Growth in Oklahoma’s film industry is upon us in the new year, thanks to everyone involved, and part the OF+MO mission is to help foster steady growth and processes. As the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program (OFERP) continues to develop, OF+MO must always be evaluating methods to make sure to provide the industry with the resources and room to expand. With that being said, OF+MO is incredibly excited to implement the new Administrative Rules, signed by the governor on December 20, 2019, which replace the former rebate guidelines.

What does this mean for filmmakers? For the most part, things will stay the same. However, there are a few key changes in how the rebate program will operate. Please visit our website to review the Administrative Rules in full.

FEATURED OKLAHOMA LOCATION
TALLY'S GOOD FOOD CAFÉ | tulsa
Since 1987, Tally’s Good Food Café on historic Route 66 has been a staple of the Tulsa dining community and celebrates the tradition of the American diner. Classic red countertops and checkered floor tiles truly make for a blast from the past, which can help filmmakers transform their scenes to the “happy days” of the 50s and 60s, or make for a classic Hollywood style location in the present day.

Over the years, Tally’s itself has transformed with time adding a second dining room, banquet room and full bar as well as a secondary location in South Tulsa that opened in 2017. Last year, Tally’s original location on Route 66 was the third local business on the historic drive to receive a grant from the Tulsa Route 66 Commission, which afforded them the opportunity to erect new neon signage harkening back to the glory days of the Mother Road. This iconic restaurant and film-friendly location can be seen most recently in the newly released family film “The Adventures of A.R.I. My Robot Friend”, which filmed throughout the City of Tulsa and surrounding area last year.

If you are interested in showcasing your community or featuring your location in the Oklahoma Locations Directory, please contact Yousef Kazemi at Yousef.Kazemi@TravelOK.com or visit our website for more information.
