Building BoomAs of November Norfolk County has surpassed the record mark (set in 2017) for highest construction value of building permits in a year. The County’s Building Department has issued an all-time high of 1270 building permits through the first 10 months of this year (up from a total of 947 permits in 2020). The total construction value of $141,614,497 to the end of October was up from $96,987,891 over the same period last year. Permits for 282 new dwelling units have been approved this year.

Have a big event coming up? Want to get your business some more exposure? Check out the Visit Norfolk App. The app has been lauded by users and features tons of info on where to go and what to do in Norfolk County. Visitors can now pre-plan their trips to Norfolk by using the App.

Ontario’s Investment Ready: Certified Site
The Site Readiness Program provides financial support to property owners to complete site preparatory work for an eligible industrial property.
Industrial properties that have completed the Site Readiness Program are attractive to investors and site selectors because they have access to important background information on the site’s availability, utilities, transportation access and/or environmental records needed to make a site selection decision quickly.
To apply for this government grant of up to $25,000.00 to get your property investment ready, click the button below. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2022.
Norfolk County is also developing an Industrial Site Registry for marketing. So if you own industrial zoned land that is ideal for development, and you would like to either pursue the Government Grant or add your site to Norfolk County’s registry, please email us at business@norfolkcounty.ca or call 519-426-5870 EXT 1264.

Increasing Deadstock Capacity Initiative
Open until Dec. 13, 2021, this program provides targeted cost-share funding support for deadstock management - 50 per cent of the verified eligible expenses incurred and paid, up to a maximum amount of $25,000 per applicant.

Ontario’s Covid 19 Safety Support and Service for Agri-food work
Farmers and agri-food businesses can access professional advice and consulting services worth $2000 to assist with COVID-19 needs. This includes managing and identifying transmission risks to protect their workers from COVID-19. The program is paid for by the Canada Agricultural Partnership (CAP) program and is available until February 28, 2022. For more information click here.
From Risk To Resilience WorkshopSWOTC has partnered with Festivals & Events Ontario to offer their “From Risk to Resilience” course (vauled at up to $245!) to organizations free of charge.
This course will equiporganizations with the necessary skills to develop an effective risk managementplan. Organizations will have access to 10 self-paced video modules for 30days, totaling 10-12 hours of content, as well as event risk management toolsand templates, and a certificate of completion.

SWOTC 2021 Innovation Awards
The focus for the 2021 Ontario's Southwest (OSW) Tourism Innovation Awards will be all about Celebrating innovation, resilience, adaptability, and sustainability. Nominations are now open for three categories this year and are linked from the SWOTC website. The deadline to apply is January 7, 2022
