SCCOOS is monitoring an ongoing DA + PSP Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) in the Southern California region, and has developed a two-page informational poster to explain the science of HAB observing.

🐚 Shellfish Advisories: The California Department of Public Health has issued a set of Shellfish Harvesting Advisories for Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties due to the risk of illness from consuming sport-harvested mussels, clams, scallops, and oysters in these areas.

🐟 Sardine Advisory: CDFW has issued a closure for the take of commercial and recreational sardines for human consumption from Pt. Conception to the US/Mexico border.
