First Annual TRECS to Sutherland 5K Fun Run and Walk. May 3, 2025, presented by Weigel's

Registration Filling up Fast for the RecSports 5K Fun Run and Walk

We are over halfway toward our 400 participant capacity. Don't miss out on this fun event! Registration includes an event T-shirt and finishers will receive an event medal. We will also have some complimentary food and snacks post-race!

Event Timeline:

TBD: Packet Pickup

8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.: 5K Fun Run and Walk

8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.: Post-Race Festivities

9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.: Award Ceremony

Race Route:

TRECS Plaza to Andy Holt Ave.
Andy Holt Ave. down Volunteer Blvd.
Volunteer Blvd. over Cumberland Ave. to Tyson Park
Third Creek Greenway to RecSports Sutherland Field Complex Fields 7 & 8

Race Transportation:

Race participants will park at the RecSports Sutherland Field Complex (3620 Sutherland Ave, Knoxville, TN 37919)

Shuttles will transport race participants to the TRECS Plaza (5K start location) starting at 6 a.m. Shuttles will continue to run continually until 11 a.m. with option to be taken back to campus from the Sutherland Field Complex.

Swim to Florida & Outdoor Pool Open

Swim 580 miles to Neptune Beach, Florida! Swim to Florida is a 10-week swim challenge that encourages consistent distance swimming. Get your laps in from February 10 to April 20 and win a free T-shirt for completing this challenge.

1 Mile = 1 Lap

Where to Participate:

The indoor pool is currently closed for maintenance.

In the meantime, we have arranged the following swimming opportunities for our members:

HPER Pool Recreational Swim
Will be available as an indoor swimming option but closed over spring break week. Our full list of hours are located at the bottom of this newsletter.

Outdoor Pool Usage
Is open this week as well as during spring break week! Our full list of hours are located at the bottom of this newsletter.
