’Cane Commencement
UTulsa celebrated more than 1,100 graduates during 2026 commencement ceremonies, and keynote speaker Julius Tennon captured the sentiment. “You are the generation that’s going to make us proud,” said Tennon, an actor, producer and former Golden Hurricane student-athlete.

| Service as Duty
Psychology and English double major Lacee Johnson was named this year’s recipient of the Marcy Lawless Service Award. “Three elements – comfort, connection and inclusion – remain at the heart of my endeavors,” said Johnson, who received a $1,200 stipend for his good work.

Wealth of Wisdom
Among the highest forms of recognition a faculty member can receive is the Outstanding Teacher Award. This once-in-a-lifetime honor is student-nominated and faculty-elected. The 2026 recipients are Matthew Hindman, Denise Dutton and Charles Brown.

A Life of Inquiry
The Outstanding Researcher Award is a lifetime distinction that honors achievements validated in the scholar’s professional fields, based on a single project or a cumulative contribution. The 2026 recipients are Eduardo Faingold, Stephen Galoob and Evren Ozbayoglu.
