Announcing the theme of our year:
Advocacy is (an) Art
Advocacy is art. Art is advocacy. This has always been a core belief of Upstream Arts. Yet now as we grow into new understandings about our organization and the work we do, it feels more timely than ever. With the start of our fall residency season on the horizon, we are looking forward to a new programming year with new dimensions of access, as well as more opportunities to grow in awareness and interconnectedness with and alongside our disability community.
Here are three goals for our 2021-2022 year:
Goal 1 - Advance the dialogue about disability by sharing and showcasing what we know and are continually learning.
Goal 2 - Infuse the creative arts into education, work, and community settings to advance the social/emotional skills of people with disabilities and of those who live and work alongside them.
Goal 3 - Maintain a nimble, sustainable organization with a culture that values artists as agents of social change.
