On The Road
It’s no secret that the unusual events of the past year have changed many of the ways we live, work, and play. As one news report after another told us, an increasing number of employees began to work remotely when their offices and other places of business closed because of the pandemic. In a similar vein, countless students from kindergarten through college switched to online learning when COVID-19 protocols closed their schools.
One silver lining is that RVing has become a big part of the transition. Many folks have set up a “home office” or study area in their RVs, complete with Wi-Fi and other equipment, and hit the road.
This month, we provide information and inspiration for folks who are working and learning from their homes on wheels, or just thinking about it. We also spotlight some of the ways that FMCA can enhance your travels.
Spring is finally here. Get out there and go RVing!

FMCA's Tire Savings Program
"I just used the Michelin Tire Advantage program for the first time. I can only say, thank you! The program was easy to use following the instructions provided. The price I was charged was exactly what was quoted online. The service was quick and the staff at the tire company that installed the tires here in Denver were very friendly and helpful with my questions. The program saved me about $480 on a set of 6 tires for my Class A gas motorhome. This savings alone will pay for several years of FMCA membership and more!"

How Do I?
Working On The Go
Working as we know it has changed a lot over the past few years, thanks to the growth of technology. We can access the internet just about anywhere, find answers almost instantly, and connect with someone at the touch of a button. Because of these great amenities, many people are taking their work on the road!
Is this something you are interested in but unsure where to start? How about creating a profile with Workamper News? Since 1987 Workamper has been connecting employers with full-time and part-time employees throughout the United States and Canada. Typical positions that can be found on Workamper’s website usually fit the particular needs of campgrounds. This would include anything from hosts to groundskeepers, office staff, etc. But you will also find that they are growing to meet the needs of today’s industry.
You can check out these other great sites as well: Workers On Wheels and WorkampingJobs.com. They also cover full-time, part-time, seasonal, and hourly work.

FMCA Adventure
Put Spring In Your Step
As we climb out of our winter hibernation and brush off the seasonal blues, it becomes obvious why April was chosen as the month to celebrate the great outdoors. From National Gardening Day on April 14 to Earth Day and Arbor Day on the 22nd and 30th of the month, respectively, April is a great time to get outside and soak up some vitamin D from the sun!
Even in the southern regions, the scorching heat of the summer has not yet arrived, making this the ideal time to take a hike no matter where you live! If hiking locally isn’t enough for you and you’re itching to hit the road and go on a bigger RV trip, why not head to one of the 423 National Park Service locations? Admission is free to all NPS sites on April 17 as part of National Park Week (April 17-25).
In fact, since we’re focusing on taking the classroom and workspace with you on your RV journey, why not turn it into an educational opportunity? There are activities for children at every location, and they can even earn badges and collect them at different parks. As part of the Every Kid Outdoors program, 4th graders and their families are eligible for free admission the entire year. The NPS has even extended this program to allow for current 5th graders who were unable to take advantage of the program last year due to COVID-19.

RVers Delight
One, Two, Three. . . In The RV!
Whether you’re officially homeschooling your children or grandchildren on the road or are simply enjoying a family travel adventure, RVing is a perfect opportunity to teach youngsters some math and science concepts. Fractions, measurements, and computations such as addition and division can be learned firsthand by preparing a meal or baking a dessert with them. As for scientific principles, youngsters can observe the chemical and physical changes of ingredients as they work alongside you in the RV galley or at the outdoor grill. (Pssst: Make it fun, and they won’t even know it’s a learning session.)
