DC-TAG

The DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DC-TAG) application opened TODAY (Monday, Feb. 1, 2021) and will close Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, 5 p.m. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their application EARLY!

FAFSA 

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid opened on October 1 and all students are encouraged to submit their application early. Once you have submitted your FAFSA click here for information on next steps and ensuring your application was processed correctly. 

College Exploration in Naviance

Are you looking for ways on how to explore colleges virtually and find schools that might be a good fit? Naviance SuperMatch is a great resource that can help you do this. Click here for video directions on how to access your Naviance account and use SuperMatch.

Local Scholarships

  • District of Columbia Nursing Scholarship
    Closing Date:
    February 15
    Amount: $2,500
    GPA Requirement: 3.25
    Description: A one-time $2,500 award given annually to two students in financial need who are residents in the District of Columbia who have been accepted or are currently enrolled in a Nursing program at the University of the District of Columbia.  A minimum GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent GPA on the scale used by the institution is required. This scholarship is strictly administered by the University of the District of Columbia.
  • Kiwanis Club of Washington Scholarship
    Closing Date:
    February 15
    Amount: Up to $20,000
    GPA Requirement: N/A
    Description: Any graduating, college-bound high school senior who both resides in and attends school in the District of Columbia are eligible to apply for this scholarship program. Applicants will be judged primarily on leadership qualities as demonstrated by contributions to school and community. Academic achievement as demonstrated by standardized test scores, grade point average, and transcripts will serve as a secondary scoring metric. Financial need will also be evaluated, but unlike previous years students do not need to submit their FAFSA in order to be eligible to apply. 
  • Aero Club Scholarship
    Closing Date:

    Amount: $5,000 (may be renewed for up to three additional years) 
    GPA Requirement: N/A
    Description: The Aero Club Foundation of Washington has established a scholarship program to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in a District of Columbia Metropolitan Area public or public charter high school who demonstrate a passion for aviation with the intent to pursue an education and career in aviation or aerospace (e.g., engineering, software designer, public relations, law, etc.). and have a financial need for scholarship assistance. Applicants from the following counties and the District of Columbia are eligible to apply: Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Prince George’s and Montgomery.
  • Meg Graham Scholarship
    Closing Date:

    Amount: $10,000
    GPA Requirement: 3.0
    Description: The scholarship is available to graduating seniors living in DC, attending a DC public, private, parochial or charter school and matriculating to an accredited four-year college or university. The scholarship rewards a student who has demonstrated outstanding voluntarism with funds for college education expenses.
  • FCAC Scholarship Program

    Description: TheFCAC Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to African-American, District of Columbia high school (public, private, or charter) students in the pursuit of a baccalaureate degree. Applicants must be DC residents. 
  • D.C. Area Phi Beta Kappa (PBK) Association
    Closing Date:
    April 10
    Amount: $1,000
    GPA Requirment: 3.5
    Description: D.C. PBK will present the scholarship to four students who display interest in the liberal arts and sciences, love of learning, and civic responsibility. Applicants must be a high school senior living in the Washington, DC area. 
  • Acts of Care Scholarship

    Amount: Class Acts Care Package and $50 
    GPA Requirement: 2.0
    Description: Applications are open to all high school seniors presently enrolled in a DC Public or Public Charter School. Residency within the District of Columbia must be provided. In addition to ​a 500-word essay detailing a community issue and idea to make a significant change within their community scholars must organize and facilitate a community service event showcasing their ability to serve others
  • Lamond-Riggs Citizens Association, Inc. Scholarship

    Amount: Up to $1,000
    GPA Requirement: 2.5
    Description: LRCA will award three (3) Academic Excellence Scholarships to eligible high school graduating seniors residing within the LRCA boundaries (see scholarship packet for a map), who will attend an accredited two or four - year college or university.
  • Ira Dorsey Scholarship

    Amount: 2,000
    GPA Requirement: 2.5
    Description: Scholarship is open to male high school seniors who live within the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan area (Virginia, DC, Maryland) and plan to attend a four-year college or university.

    Description: Applications are open to all high school seniors presently enrolled in a DC Public or Public Charter School. National Scholarships

  • ACS Scholars Program
    Closing Date:

    Amount: Up to $5,000
    GPA Requirement: 3.0
    Description: Scholarship is open to African-American, Hispanic/Latino, and American Indian students who are graduating high school seniors or college freshmen, sophomores or juniors intending to or already majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or a chemically related science.
  • SEG Foundation Scholarships
    Closing Date
    : March 1
    Amount: Up to $10,000
    GPA Requirement: N/A
    Description: Applicant must be either a high school senior planning to enter college next fall or an undergraduate or graduate student whose grades are above average. Applicant must be intending to pursue a college curriculum directed towards a career in applied geophysics or a closely related field.
  • Be the Boss Scholarship
    Closing Date:

    Amount: $2,000
    GPA Requirement: N/A
    Description: Scholarship is open to female high school and college students who want to start their own online business. Applicant must share all the reasons they are scared to start their business and who their female boss role model is.
  • FormSwift Scholarship

    Amount: $1,000
    GPA Requirement: N/A
    Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students. Applicant must create a business plan infographic for one of the given industries provided.
  • ITE Diversity Scholars Program
    Closing Date:

    Amount: Up $20,000 (up to $4,000 annually per student for up to 5 years of undergraduate enrollment)
    GPA Requirement: N/A
    Description: This program is open to any U.S. high school student of African-American; Native American, Alaskan, and Hawaiian; or Hispanic/Latino heritage with an interest in a career in transportation and seeking to study transportation engineering, planning, or in a related-field at a school with an established ITE Student Chapter.
  • Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship
    Closing Date: March 15
    Amount: $2,500
    GPA Requirement: N/A
    Description: Shell will sponsor up to 20 one-year awards of $2,500 for selected graduating high school seniors enrolling in engineering or geosciences at universities identified by Shell. Eligible universities include NC A&T, Florida A&M, Rice University and University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. See website for a complete list of eligible institutions.
  • Stewart J. Guss College Student Scholarship

    Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors or graduates or current postsecondary undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or a similar field. 
  • Robert T. Kenney Scholarship

    Amount: Up to $4,000 (possibly renewable for up to three additional years)
    GPA Requirement: N/A
    Description: Eligible students must have financial need and have been accepted or are currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. A letter of acceptance into a nursing program or a transcript stating the applicant is in a nursing program must be included with the application.
  • Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest
    Closing Date:
    March 31
    Amount: Up to $31,500
    GPA Requirement: N/A
    Description: Program is open to students in grades 9-12. who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions; or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools. Applicant must submit two-dimensional art must be on canvas or paper. Watercolor, pencil, pastel, charcoal, tempera, crayon, acrylic, pen, ink, oil, marker or other media taught may be used or three-dimensional art on paper, papier-mâché, pottery, clay, metal work, fabric, etc.
