Resume and Cover Letter Review

The Miami University Student Affairs Graduate Association (MUSAGA) and the Division are partnering to offer a resume and cover letter review for students in the Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) program.  As a way to support masters and doctoral level SAHE students as they prepare to apply for jobs, internships, and/or Ph.D. programs, we are seeking interested colleagues to serve as resume and cover letter reviewers.
If interested in serving as a reviewer, please complete this Google Form by 8am on November 15th at 8am.
  • You will be able to preference which functional area(s) you’d prefer to review.

  • SAHE students will preference one or two functional areas for which they would use their resume and cover letter after the review.    The hope is to match functional areas between the SAHE students and reviewers.

  • Every effort will be made to assign each reviewer the resume(s) & cover letter(s) to accommodate your preferred amount of SAHE students to review.

  •  If serving as a reviewer, you will have your assigned resume(s) and cover letter(s) to review by November 16th. We ask that you have an in-person feedback meeting with each student whose materials you review by December 8th.

Thanks for your assistance!  Please contact Adam Z. Leftin (leftina@miamioh.edu) or Natasha Young (youngnj2@miamioh.edu) if you have any questions!

Final Exam Proctors Needed

The Rinella Learning Center is gearing up for Final Exams proctoring.  It is projected that we will proctor over 1,000 exams between December 11-15.  The only way we are able to meet this demand and to ensure a smooth and calm testing experience for our students is with volunteers from the Division of Student Affairs.  If you have at least 4 hours available during the week of finals, please consider volunteering.  Included is a GoogleForm allowing you to volunteer and to identify hours of availability.  Please note that proctors are allowed to engage in quiet work like grading, report writing, or reading.  Also, we will provide training for proctors on the Thursday and Friday leading up to Finals Week.
The Rinella Learning Center staff thanks you for your consideration.

Coffee and Conversations with SDAC

The Student Disability Advisory Council (SDAC) will be hosting "Coffee and Conversations" which is open to faculty, staff, and students who are interested in learning more about disability issues on campus from a panel of students registered with SDS.  This event is an opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion with students with disabilities about their experiences at Miami.
This event is free and all are welcome to attend.

Resident Assistant Nomination Request

Ongoing through December 2017
Did you know that the Office of Residence Life has approximately 268 Resident Assistants? Each year we welcome many student leaders into our department seeking to foster positive community relationships in the residence halls and apartment communities. To identify the best of the best, we look to our campus partners to do so. Please consider nominating a student you feel has the capacity to serve our students as a resident assistant via the link below.

Miami University SAHE Master's Program Prospects

Dear colleagues, a
s
we begin planning for interview days in February 2018, we need your assistance in identifying outstanding prospective students for Miami University's SAHE master's program. In an effort to reach out to historically marginalized students, who might not otherwise have access to or information about our program, we are soliciting your help. We are looking to identify racial/ethnic minority students, first-generation college students, LGBTQ+ identified students, and low-income students who may benefit from a personal invitation. Please visit SAHE Recruitment Nomination Form to be directed to the form.
Please click this link to fill out the Hub form to request Spring 2018 Late Night Miami event funding.

Questions? Please reach out to StudentActivties@miamioh.edu!

Student Affairs Intranet

Student Affairs will soon have a staff member Intranet, for internal communication and resource-sharing in Student Affairs. We are looking now for early adopters to help us populate the site with missing resources (you'll see lots of gaps currently!) and expand the current offerings.
New ideas? Missing resources? Etc? Email Jen O'Brien (obrienjc@miamioh.edu) or Tim Kresse (kressetj@miamioh.edu) to submit ideas.

TIP: Create drop-down menus in Google Sheets.
WHY: Are you creating a spreadsheet where you find yourself typing in the same content over and over again? I've found that this comes in handy for communication plans, student meeting tracking, etc.
HOW?  On Google Sheets, right click on a cell. Scroll down to Data Validation and under Criteria, choose List of Items. You can then list the options you want, separated by commas; make sure "show dropdown list in cell" is checked and click Save. Now, when you click on that cell, a dropdown menu will appear that you can choose from. You can copy & paste or click and drag this formatting into other cells as desired.
Note - you can do the same thing in Excel, just select cell(s) and go to Data>Data Validation>Settings>List
