From the Camp Director:

As I write this we have one more day of summer camp. I cannot believe it is over already!! I just want to brag a little on the staff we had this summer and the sacrifices they all made to serve our campers and faculty. It is no easy task to spend your whole summer serving others. Missing out on vacation, missing time with family, the possibility of making more money somewhere else. I have enjoyed this summer probably more than any of my 12 summers at camp. All because we had a staff that focused on others instead of self! PRAISE THE LORD!!! Church and supporters of Hanging Rock you should be very proud of the group of people in that picture above! They served WELL! My interns Kaleb Baker & Josh Stamm did an amzing Job as well. They served 12 amazing weeks working directly with the Event Coordinators. What a GREAT SUMMER! I will be sharing about the highlights in the September newsletter.

Fish Fry: September 7

4 p.m. - 7p.m.

If you got the privilege of staying in our dorms, then you know it is time we remodel our bathrooms. All the money we make will go toward remodeling our bathrooms. We plan to start at the House of Adam, then to House of Eve and then the Hilton. We know that it will cost around $125,000 to do all three buildings. If you cannot be here for the fish fry you can still donate toward the bathrooms.

We are also looking for volunteers to serve an hour at a time during the fish fry. Email us at therock@hangingrock.org if you are intested in helping.

Family Camp:

It is time to get registered for Labor Day Family Camp. Family Camp will start off with a walk in dinner from 5:30 - 6:45 Friday and a main session starting at 7:00 p.m. We have some great friends of the camp that will be joining us this year for family camp. Maybe you recognize these names:

Thank you Tab & Bainbridge Churches for supporting us through your VBS, we are able to get more harnesses. If you would like to buy a harness for us you can donate online or send a check. They are $45.00 per harness.

MINISTER'S BRUNCH/PREACHERS' RETREAT

We will have our Minister's Brunch on September 10th. The Preachers Retreat will follow the brunch for those who would like to stay. We are excited to have Harold Keck as the main speaker. Harold was the Senior Minister at the New Hope Christian Church in Crawfordsville. He is now the Lead Pastor, Elder @ Seymour Heights Christian Church in Seymour, Tennessee.
Harold began serving SHCC in February of 2012. He and his wife, Missy, have been married for thirty three years and are blessed with two sons: Nathan and Zeb. Harold enjoys reading about history, playing a little golf, and cheering on the IU Hoosiers.
We hope you will plan to attend. More information is available at the local churches!
