22 Push-ups for Veteran Suicide Prevention, Friday |
Join us on Friday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the West Lawn for 22 Push-Ups for Veteran Suicide Awareness. Everyone is invited to meet active-duty service members, enjoy lunch, win prizes, and join in 22 push-ups every half hour to raise awareness for veterans’ suicide prevention.
The first 150 students will receive a voucher for Drew's Concessions for one free item. Also, in attendance will be Pro-Football Hall of Famer, Walter Jones as a part of the Gold Jacket Residency Program to support the event. We are designating that day as a wear "Red, White, and Blue" day for all students and participants to support this patriotic cause.
Leading the push-ups will be U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and Walsh University alum Joshua Ruiz ’21, our Veteran Affairs Coordinator. Modified push-ups are welcome, and all are encouraged to participate. According to Veterans Affairs (VA) researchers, an estimated 22 veterans take their own lives every day—a staggering number that may be even higher.
