OF+MO to Host Panel, Exhibit at Fort Smith International Film Festival & MidAmerica Film Market OF+MO is proud to represent Oklahoma’s film and music industries at the fourth annual Fort Smith International Film Festival & MidAmerica Film Market to be in Fort Smith, Ark. August 22-24. Over 200 films, including 80 specifically from Arkansas and Oklahoma filmmakers, will be shown at the festival, which will also feature networking events, panels and a distribution market for filmmakers. As part of its partnership, OF+MO will host an exhibition table throughout the festival as well as lead a “Film in Oklahoma” panel featuring selected Oklahoma filmmakers Katie Hightower (“Haley’s Game”), Chuck Price (“Full Court Press: The Ken Zacher Story”) and Logan Walcher (“Barrom Heroes”) on Saturday, August 24, at 3:30 p.m.

OF+MO Partners for Presentation at 2024 AFCI Week; Discount Available for Film Friendly Communities OF+MO is proud to partner with the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) to present programming for the organization’s upcoming 2024 AFCI Week, to be held in Los Angeles August 25-28. OF+MO will present the Beyond Hollywood panel featuring executives from Walt Disney, Sony Pictures, Amazon MGM Studios, HBO/MAX/WBD and Paramount & Nickelodeon Studios. The annual AFCI Week conference includes educational sessions featuring industry leaders, developing technologies and solutions to address modern film and television production challenges as well as networking opportunities with entertainment industry decision makers.

OF+MO Offers Panels at Select Oklahoma 2024 OF+MO will participate in the annual Select Oklahoma conference offering two panels on Monday, August 26. Why Film Matters: A Community Perspective will be at 1:30 p.m. and The Sustainable Impact of Live Music on Communities will be at 4 p.m. with panelists of professionals across the film and music industries. The two-day conference, taking place August 26-27 at the Oklahoma City Convention Center, brings together city leaders from across the state with the purpose of providing information and networking opportunities, investment opportunities and further economic development.

“Reagan” to Release in Theatres August 30 Detailing the life of the former U.S. President through the voice of a KGB agent, the biopic film “Reagan” is set to release in theaters August 30. The production, which utilized the state’s film incentive and was primarily lensed in Guthrie, stars Dennis Quaid in the titular role alongside an extensive roster of local talent, including Rachel Cannon, Randy Wayne, Darci Lynne, Robert Peters, Skip Schwink and more. Additionally, “Reagan” includes music from Oklahoma duo The Imaginaries who sing “My Adore You.” Follow OF+MO on social media for premiere events.

Meridian Tech to Host Film Beginner’s Course in August Meridian Tech is offering Film Industry Fundamentals: A Crash Course to Work on a Film Crew August 20-25. The course includes both in-person and hybrid options, and will be led by local film professional Jordan Wilson, known for her work on “A Thousand Little Cuts,” “Leak,” “Iké Boys” and more. Participants will learn film and television vocabulary, set equipment, film crew roles, employable soft skills, networking and other essential industry knowledge.

OSU-Tulsa Offers Intro to the Film Industry Workshop OSU-Tulsa is offering an in-person workshop geared for adults who are interested in beginning to work in the film industry Saturday, September 7, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Taught by Dylan Brodie and Stephen Hanan and located on OSU-Tulsa campus, this one-day class introduces students to the basics of how a professional film set is run and will give a grasp of skills and best practices that will allow them to find work on motion picture shoots as a Production Assistant.

OF+MO and Tulsa FMAC Receive LMGI Nomination for Outstanding Film Commission Both OF+MO and the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture (Tulsa FMAC) have been jointly nominated for Outstanding Film Commission for work and services provided to “Killers of the Flower Moon” at the upcoming 11th annual Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) Awards. Additionally, the final season of “Reservation Dogs” was nominated for Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Television Series. Winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony in Beverly Hills, Cali., on August 24, which will also be available to live stream for free on YouTube.

Film Friendly: On the Road OF+MO is seeking to engage on-location with leadership among statewide cities, towns, counties and tribal nations to promote the Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program and learn more about each community’s structure and development plans.
