New SIREN Podcast
After publishing the SIREN SCREEN report State of Science on Social Screening in Healthcare Settings in July, our team chatted with report stakeholders—including patient advocates, providers, educators, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers—to do some sense making. What did these stakeholders find surprising, not surprising, useful, missing from the report? What do they think needs to come next? Take a SIREN SCREEN break to learn more. You can find all the SCREEN podcast episodes here.

The NIH has released a Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) to encourage research on the efficacy of interventions that address nutrition security and the mechanisms of food insecurity on a variety of health outcomes. The NOSI applies to a variety of funding mechanisms and is available between October 5, 2022 and November 29, 2024.
Systems for Action, a RWJF research program, is seeking studies that examine how to help medical, social, and public health systems collaborate to address structural barriers to health and health equity, including racism and the social conditions that impact health. Two award levels are available ($100,000 and $500,000). Applications are due October 5, 2022.
The NIH Common Fund is soliciting applications from community organizations in support of the goals of the Community Partnerships to Advance Science for Society (ComPASS) Program’s Community-Led, Health Equity Structural Intervention Initiative. The new research opportunity will support the development, implementation, assessment, and dissemination of community-led, health equity structural interventions, co-created in partnership with research organizations, that intervene upon structural factors that produce and perpetuate health disparities. Letter of intent due by November 18, 2022, 11:59 PM ET. For more details, read the full Research Opportunity Announcement (ROA) here.
