February is CTE Month!

We want to Thank the educators and professional staff in the Career and Technical Education fields. Keep doing great work guiding these students to suitiable careers!

Stewartville Student Placements

The Stewartville Special Education Department reached out to see if I could assist with some job placements in the upcoming quarter for a work experience course. This is a resource I can provide as I am working with local businesses. I have met with the students to see what their skills and interests are and I will attempt to pair them with appropriate places of businesses. If you have any businesses in which you would like to do a warm hand-off, please let me know.

Kasson-Mantorville

As school is going back into session face-to-face, Counselor Shelly Bielen wants to get students excited about being back and is partnering with SSC to provide weekly guest speakers. These speakers will be in areas the students are interested in as they have been surveyed. They will be speakers sharing their career experiences, as well as able to provide question and answer time for more individual questions and conversation. Our first speaker will be on March 4th. Nathan Schroeder is an entrepreneur and business owner.

Byron

The guidance office has reached out asking if I would be able to help coordinate a Virtual Career Fair happening in March. We are asking professionals of all areas to share their expertise in a recorded session and let students know what it was like for them to get into that career, as well as advice to students who might want to pursue that route. Given that most career expos and fairs have been non-existent with the pandemic, this is a way to meet the needs of the students so they can get some career exposure and guidance. Look for more details to come!

Triton

As we started this newsletter honoring CTE teachers, it is great to see the schools honoring their staff as well. Recently, Triton named Monica Maloney as Triton's Teacher of the year. She has taught in the district 17 years and is continuing to develop herself and grow professionally by obtaining more certifications and licenses. Congratulations Monica!
