Recipes That Tell a Story
At A.G. Rhodes, we know that some of life’s best moments happen around the table and that food is more than nutrition. It’s a favorite recipe remembered from childhood. It’s gathering around a table with friends. It’s comfort on a hard day and celebration on a good one.
This month, we celebrate food and community with the launch of our newest activity, Recipes That Tell a Story. Our first installment comes from A.G. Rhodes Cobb, where an elder shared her family's recipe for French onion soup, and one of our CNA Care Partners shared dishes from her home country of Ghana.
Be sure to follow us on social media as we share more stories that will nourish your heart and soul!

Where Care and Storytelling Meet
We’re pleased to welcome Lesly Gervil as the new administrator at A.G. Rhodes Atlanta. Get to know him in this month’s employee spotlight.
Lesly says that working in a field that serves older adults has never felt like just a career; it has always felt like a natural place to be. Born and raised in northern Haiti, he spent much of his upbringing with his grandmother, an experience that shaped his comfort and connection with older generations.
“I feel at ease being with older folks,” Lesly said. “That’s the only place I’ve been in my career, and I love it.”

A Force of Nature:
The Enduring Legacy of Margaret Boyd Perdue
During Women’s History Month, A.G. Rhodes is proud to recognize women whose dedication to service has helped strengthen our community. Among them is Margaret Boyd Perdue, whose lifelong commitment to volunteerism and civic leadership included meaningful service to A.G. Rhodes and many other organizations across Atlanta.
The late Margaret Boyd Perdue was not the kind of leader who sought recognition. She preferred to shape outcomes behind the scenes, influencing strategy, building momentum, and drawing others into service. Those who worked alongside her remember a woman whose impact was great, even when her approach was understated.
Her children, David Perdue, chair of the A.G. Rhodes Board of Trustees, and Margaret Perdue Denny, A.G. Rhodes board member, describe her as “a force of nature.”

Investing in Future Leaders
Congratulations to the Leadership Development Program Class of 2026! Through months of mentorship, executive shadowing, and leadership coursework, our newest graduates are building skills that extend beyond their roles today. By investing in frontline staff, the program helps cultivate leaders to serve not only at A.G. Rhodes, but across the broader aging services and healthcare community.

Grant Award Leads to Heartwarming Service Project
Our horticultural therapy and music therapy programs were recently awarded a $5,000 grant through a sixth-grade community service project at The Trinity School, following inspiring presentations from Horticultural Therapy Director Kirk Hines, Music Therapy Director John Abel, and an elder from A.G. Rhodes Cobb.
As a continuation of the project, Trinity students later visited our Cobb community to participate in horticultural and music therapy sessions alongside residents. Together, they also created no-sew blankets for puppies at Bosley’s Place, a puppy rescue which was the fellow finalist in the grant competition. The experience highlighted the power of intergenerational connection, service, and kindness—benefiting both the elders we serve and vulnerable animals in the broader community.

Applications are now open for Generation Connect 2026! This unique intergenerational program brings together students and elders to build meaningful connections, share stories, and learn from one another in ways that leave a lasting impact. If you’re ready to be inspired, make a difference, be part of something truly special, and have fun, apply today!

"We are very pleased with the care Mom receives. The staff treats all residents with respect and kindness, the facility is always clean, the activities engage residents and the food is pretty good. The support staff and administration are very responsive to questions too."
~ Jennifer L.
"Beautiful, Comforting, Home when away from home. I love it. 🙏"
~ Dorothy L.
"Great place for rehabilitation, short term and long term care! Things are not always perfect however the activity directors and staff do a FANTASTIC job of making sure that everyone who wants to participate along with encouraging residents to participate and get out of their rooms. Music on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Horticulture on Mondays and Fridays is all excellent and everyone loves and looks forward to. I spend a lot of time visiting my Mother in Law so I see things in a daily lens. Some of these residents are toward their final days of life so every day, every laugh, and every memory is priceless. (The staff) definitely have not forgotten this and you can see it in their passion. They are all such a blessing and make AG Rhodes a fantastic place."
~ R.K.
