Dear Hornet Community,
Happy Black History Month and Lunar New Year!
As we continue to be a campus where everyone belongs, I encourage our campus community to come out and support our various events and exhibits. It is important for the campus to continue to make connections with multiple communities and intentionally break from our silos.
We invite the entire campus to attend:
Witness and experience the stories of APIDA belonging both distinct and shared on Monday, February 12th, 12-2 p.m., University Union Ballroom.
This exhibit will showcase past and present Black leaders who have contributed greatly to the success of Sacramento State. This is installation 1 and more Black staff, faculty, students, and community will be showcased in the future. Over two thousand artifacts will also be on display on Tuesday, February 20th from 9-4 p.m., University Union Lobby Suite
Last February, our Sac State Green and Gold Speaker Series 2023 on Reparations as a form of Justice received glowing praise from Secretary of State, Shirley Weber. She therefore asked if she could take our "Historical Worldview Timeline of Reparations" exhibit on her Reparations Taskforce roadshow. She traveled with the Division of Inclusive Excellence’s reparations exhibit across California. It received rave reviews for its comprehensiveness, organization, attention to detail, and historical accuracy. It has now been archived at the Capitol for ALL to see. Please visit the Capitol to see how Sac State continues to make an indelible impact on multiple communities. It is archived and displayed at the State Capitol, 4th-floor gallery showings from 9:30-4 p.m. daily.
I am looking forward to seeing you at these events and exhibits!
In partnership,
Dr. Mia Settles-Tidwell
Vice President for Inclusive Excellence and University Diversity Officer
