January 21 Holiday


A reminder that Monday, January 21, is a student holiday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Our Extended Day program is also closed.

Second Quarter Teacher Conferences

Teacher conferences begin the week of January 28. Please contact your child's teacher or advisor if you did not receive an online signup form.

Eighth Grade Field Trip

On Thursday, January 24, 8th graders will take a field trip to the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton to see a production of "The Merry Wives of Windsor." 
  • Departure Time/Location: We will meet at 7:45 a.m. in the Martin's parking lot in the Stony Point Shopping Center.
  • Lunch: Students should bring a snack for the bus ride up and pack a lunch to eat on the bus on the ride home.
  • Return: We will return to the Martin's parking lot between 2:45-3 p.m.

Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundaes at the Family Open House in the Great Hall (adjoining Allen Library) on Thursday, January 31 from 3-6 p.m. Cost is $3.
Parking:  For ease of access, the "green" parking lot between     Hubbard Hall and Singleton Hall will be OPEN during non-carpool hours. During carpool hours, please feel free to park in the East Gym parking lot and walk up.

Looking Ahead: Student Holiday on Tuesday, January 29

For planning purposes, Tuesday, January 29 is a student holiday and no classes will be held. (For faculty and staff, this is a Conference & Faculty Professional Development Day.)
Our Extended Day program will be open from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m..
Mountain Biking Childcare Option: 
  • Virginia Outside is offering a mountain biking program at Pocahontas State Park on January 29 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for 1st-8th graders (weather permitting).  Click HERE for registration information.

Join the staff of Virginia Outside as we hit the local mountain bike trails. We will visit the James River Park and other area parks over the course of the month. We will even explore the beautiful 70-acre trails of the St. Michael's campus! Participants will learn beginner and intermediate mountain biking skills. Transportation, bikes, and helmets provided. Open to boys and girls in 1st- 5th grade. Participants should be comfortable riding a bike on pavement before signing up for this program. Pick-up at St. Michael's West carpool loop. St M Summer Spectacular Camps

Explore your creative side. Experiment with science. Embrace the outdoors. Learn coding and engineering. Get active with sports. Be an adventurous chef.

Welcome to summer camp, St. Michael’s-style!  St M will offer six camp sessions from June 17-August 2 for children ages 4 through rising ninth grade.  Half-day and full-day options available.
SNEAK PEEK: We have lots of exciting camps planned, including Coding, LEGOs and Video Game making, Model UN, Cooking and Cake-Decorating, Creative Writing and Poets Workshop, Challenge Island STEM/STEAM Adventures, Fishing and Mountain Biking, Performing Arts and Music, and more!

Given the winter weather, there are icy spots occasionally in the carpool loops. When dropping off at morning carpool, please pay special attention to the duty teachers so that you may be directed to a safe drop-off spot. Thanks!

Monday, January 21: Martin Luther King Jr. Day 
At St. Michael's, we strongly value student engagement in service around our Richmond community. As has become annual practice nationwide, we encourage students and their families to serve their communities on MLK Day as a way of honoring the work of Martin Luther King.  
Please click HERE to view the following options: (1) a link listing all opportunities in the Richmond area, (2) a signup for "A Day On, Not A Day Off" with projects all over Richmond and (3) a signup for the clean-up of a Historic African American cemetery and historic tour. The Tricycle Gardens opportunity has now closed.
MS Service Hours/ DRAGONS Values Nominations Due

The next recognition chapel is coming up on Wednesday, February 27. All Middle School students have been asked to turn in their hours and DRAGONS Values Nominations through their ATLL Google Classrooms by the 2/13!
