Hello Volunteer,
Thank you to all the wonderful folks that got us through the jam packed month of October! We couldn't have done it without you. Looking to November, we have some new and unique opportunities for volunteering coming up, especially near the coast!

November 5th
9 am - 1 pm
Volunteers are invited to help us plant 1000 native plants and 100 trees to drastically improve bird habitat in our Horseshoe Marsh Sanctuary. This 650-acre wetland complex, located near the Bolivar ferry landing adjacent to the historic Bolivar lighthouse, includes salt marsh and wet coastal prairie surrounding a shallow tidal lagoon. It is critical habitat for large numbers of shorebirds, waders, and ducks including Roseate Spoonbills, Oystercatchers, Long-billed Curlews, Seaside Sparrows and Clapper Rails, among others. As there is no public access to this sanctuary, volunteering is a great way to get to explore this otherwise inaccessible landscape!

Please join us for the first Entergy Coastal Natives Nursery volunteer workday! Extending the work of the legendary Houston Audubon Natives Nursery at Edith L. Moore, our High Island nursery location is growing out dozens of coastal-adapted species for restoration projects on all of our sanctuaries. We have the tables, the pots, the plants, and the soil - and now we need you!

Join Natives Nursery manager Berri Moffett, Conservation Specialist Wyatt Egelhoff, and our field technicians to learn all about propagation of native plants. If you are already familiar with the process, even better! We would love to have your leadership and expertise on the team.

Bring gloves, hat, sturdy shoes, and a refillable water bottle. We will provide water and some snacks. All tools and materials are provided.
