When we decided to raise money for 25 coats, we thought that $2500 was ambitious. You have blown us away with your generosity and continue to do so. Just two days after we launched our campaign, we've already raised more than our goal - over $3100 and counting!
Yay! So now what?
We've decided to keep going. For the next two weeks, we'll continue to raise money. On December 11th we'll end our campaign and order as many coats as we can so we can begin distributing them to our friends who need them the most.
Is this the best solution? What about shelters? Real housing solutions to get homeless folks out of the cold altogether?
Great questions. While our wish is for everyone to be able to seek shelter, especially in colder temperatures, the realty is more complex than that. Some individuals choose not to stay in shelters, others are unable to stay in shelters, and still others miss the opportunity for a warm place to sleep. We seek to meet people where they're at and this is one way we can do that.
