It started with captured Axis cryptographic equipment that formed the basis of a small R&D collection. The collection grew to become museum-like exhibits in the NSA lobby. Eventually, what was once the Colony 7 motel became the National Cryptologic Museum (open to employees and their families in July 1993). In December 1993 - the NCM opened to the public and media interest and public attendance boomed! Happy Anniversary, NCM! This photo is from 1993 when the NCM was one large exhibit room - my how things have changed!
