Langston Hughes by David Mills
What better way to celebrate Juneteenth than to see a play based on the works of Harlem Renaissance writer, Langston Hughes.
Affectionately known as Shakespeare in Harlem--this one man tour-de-force takes the audience on an odyssey spanning five decades of Hughes’ writings.
The show explores Hughes’ penchant for both humor and pathos, and Mills dramatically interprets Hughes’ contribution to modernist poetry giving the audience a nuanced look at his work. Mills also performs several short-stories including the hilarious, ironic and little known, “Rock, Church.”
