L@S GANAS Research Fellowship

Applications for the L@s GANAS Research Fellowship are now live! This is a Two Year fellowship that provides students with valuable hands-on research experience and an opportunity to expand their network in the academic research community. Eligible students can also be offered up to $5,000 and funding to present at local and national conferences. 

If you are a Latinx student or are Pell Grant eligible, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the scientific field and what it takes to follow a research based career path.

Mentoring Con Ganas

Applications for Mentors are open! Mentoring Con Ganas offers upper class students an opportunity to help incoming first year and transfer students. Mentors can offer insight into classes, professors, campus events, and provide a support system for new incoming students. This is also a great leadership opportunity for Pre-Health students. 

If you are a STEM student with a minimum of 2.5 GPA, identify as Latinx, will be a UIC student for the entire 2019-2020 academic year, and the 2019-2010 academic year is at least your second year at UIC, then you can apply!

L@s GANAS Research Day

The L@s GANAS Research day will bring together L@s GANAS Research Fellows, and UIC undergraduates who are interested or currently conducting independent research in natural and physical sciences for a day of professional development. We will have guest speakers, workshops (mock interviews, how to plan for graduate school, how to be an effective pre-med student, job search, etc), a career panel over lunch, and end in a poster session.

UMass Medical Scool Undergraduate Research 

The University of Massachusetts Medical School Summer Undergraduate Research program is a 10-week research experience that consists of "hands" on laboratory research with an investigator serving as a mentor, role model and advisor. 
Not only will students get the opportunity to network within a medical school, but they will also participate in intense research experience in state of the art laboratories. Students will also attain a $4,000 stipend, free travel, housing, transportation, and the opportunity to present a professional research poster!

Graw Hill Research 

Mcgraw Hill is conducting a research project so that they may better understand how college students want to use their mobile devices to complete their coursework. They are seraching for 8-10 UIC students to participate in a 90 minute focus group to share their experiences and thoughts.

Cancer Undergraduate Research & Education

Cancer Undergraduate Research and Education (CURE) is an undergraduate summer research program for underserved college students that are interested in pursuing careers in biomedical sciences. This is an 8-week program in which students will be work alongside top cancer researchers in state-of-the-art laboratories, and receive a $4,000 stipend! 
Established scientists will act as mentors and work with CURE students on nationally funded laboratories research projects, and will receive career guidance through weekly seminars presented by faculty members.
