Hi Neighbor!

You know what is not funny? My friend’s daughter having a stroke before her 12th birthday and finding out she has an unnecessary and dangerous cluster of extra blood vessels deep in her brain. It was this cause, (AVM), and a celebration of the survivors that brought friends, neighbors, local sports favorites, a Conestoga Alumni celebrity, and others affected by AVM together this past Saturday to support Kendall’s Crusade. Kendall’s mother has thrived in the male dominated sports broadcasting field, and her father is a state trooper, so you can imagine the amount of tenacity she has by way of gene pool. What you might not know is how vibrant and optimistic she has always been and how she has remained so through her initial PT and ongoing treatment. Her catch phrase through all of this has been “Don’t Bring Down My Positive”.

On Saturday Night when the headliner, Philly native & Comedian Craig Shoemaker, took the stage, he had Kendall's outlook in mind. Soon he had us all roaring, and the message behind his performance was right on. It is also the name of his organization, Laughter Heals. When difficult times arise, and once we have met them with the initial focus, sorrow, and seriousness needed, there is a place for laughter to heal. It is a source of hope and optimism and community. The physical and emotion benefits of laughter are significant too. So, seek out some funny, no matter what the day holds.

Getting my laugh on!
