SLAM and Pendulum Named Official A/E/C Sponsors of ECAC
SLAM has partnered with Pendulum of Kansas City, Missouri to become the official architecture/engineering/construction (A/E/C) industry sponsors of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). In the 77 years since its inception, the ECAC has emerged as the nation's largest Conference, ranging in location from Maine to Georgia, and westerly to Missouri.
Notre Dame Campus Crossroads Update
Progress continues to be made on the University of Notre Dame Campus Crossroads Project. The 850,000-SF project, which includes student academic and recreational affairs programs as well as enhancements to historic Notre Dame Stadium and surrounding facilities, is on track to be ready in time for the 2017 athletic season and academic school year!

Detroit PAL Breaks Ground on New Headquarters
The Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL), a non-profit organization that provides inner city youths an opportunity to learn through athletics and develop the confidence and motivation to achieve excellence in life broke ground earlier this year on a multi-sport complex and new headquarters at the site of the former Tiger Stadium in Detroit, Michigan. The new $20 million facility will include a 2,500-seat stadium for baseball, softball, football, lacrosse, soccer and other sports with dugouts, locker rooms, scoreboards and lights. The project also comprises a 10,000-square foot headquarters including PAL offices on the first floor and a banquet facility for up to 300 people on the second floor for volunteer training and community use. The project is being led by Pendulum, with SLAM serving as structural engineer and assisting with design. 
Jimmy John's Field Opens to Public
Jimmy John’s Field in Utica, Michigan, has recently opened to greater downtown Utica residents as the first independent professional ballpark in the metropolitan Detroit area!
New Haven Bowen Field Renovation Reaches Completion
The renovation of the Bowen Field Complex at James Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Connecticut has recently reached completion. The project, designed by SLAM, included a complete renovation of the playing surface and facilities. A new synthetic turf field, 8-lane synthetic track and lighting towers were installed allowing the first night game to be played at the multi-purpose field. Additionally, a locker room and public restroom were constructed while the former gatehouse was renovated. Construction on the landscape included the installation of new bleachers, sidewalks, site walls, and landscaping features. O&G Industries was the Construction Manager for the project.
Conceptual Plans for Manchester Field House Unveiled
Conceptual plans were recently released for a $20 million, 74,000-square-foot field house that would be built on the grounds of Manchester High School, serving both the high school as well as the Manchester community as a recreational facility attracting paying visitors from throughout the region. The conceptual plans prepared by SLAM call for a six-lane, 200-meter track surrounding four full basketball courts, which also could be used for volleyball, pickleball--a paddle game--and other sports.
Pendulum and SLAM Team Chosen To Study McCoy Stadium and Surrounding Area in Pawtucket, RI 
The Pendulum and SLAM Team, along with consulting firm Brailsford & Dunlavey; BETA Group; Barton Malow; and Arora Engineers were recently selected by the State of Rhode Island, City of Pawtucket, and the Pawtucket Paw Sox to study the future of McCoy Stadium and the area surrounding the ballpark in Pawtucket, RI. The study is focused on creating a plan and cost estimates for enhancing the stadium to bring it in line with the newest, state-of-the-art facilities in Minor League Baseball, as well as to provide a framework for new development around the venue. Originally opened in 1942, McCoy Stadium has served as the International League Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox since 1973. The design team's findings are scheduled to be presented in early 2017.
