On Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, the Department of Campus Safety was notified by the NYPD of a report of an armed robbery that occurred on May 21st, 2025 at approximately 10:11 p.m., in front of the Pless Annex located at 26 Washington Place, in Manhattan.

Preliminary information indicates that the individuals involved were non-NYU affiliates. They were engaged in a discussion amongst themselves when the situation escalated, resulting in one party brandishing a firearm and robbing the other of their backpack. The individual who brandished the firearm then fled in a grey BMW along with another participant. The NYPD believes the incident was isolated in nature, and the involved parties were known to one another prior to the occurrence.
There were no reported injuries. The NYPD is actively investigating the matter and searching for the assailants.

Description of Suspect(s): One suspect was masculine-presenting with a dark complexion, short black hair, and was wearing a black shirt under his grey top, and also had on white sneakers. The second suspect was masculine-presenting with a dark complexion, short black hair, grey pants, and black sneakers.
