Fall is Planting Time!
Fall is Planting Time!
We'd like to introduce you to Kimberly Toscano, who blends her formal training in horticulture and entomology with her passion for garden design to educate and inspire gardeners.

Cooler Temps Beckon

The cooler temperatures have revitalized my garden with a flush of fresh blooms. Roses and gardenias fill the air with their lovely perfumes, and I am looking forward to the earliest blooming camellias from the October Magic® Camellia series. It’s not too late to add these beauties to your garden.

In fact, fall is a great time to plant shrubs. The cooler temperatures and more frequent rains reduce plant stress and are ideal for root growth, allowing newly planted shrubs (as well as trees and perennials) to establish quickly.

EVERGREEN BEAUTY

I like to pair the deep green foliage of camellias and gardenias with colorful nandinas. The fresh citrus hues of ‘Lemon-Lime’ Nandina provide vibrant contrast, while Blush Pink™ Nandina adds striking red winter color. Nandinas, camellias, and gardenias all have evergreen foliage, providing year-long color. They also make wonderful late-season container plantings
