The Nebraska Arts Council is sponsoring a two-day State Arts Conference, for arts professionals including artists, volunteers and administrators. The conference is designed to provide inspiration networking opportunities, hands-on workshops and artist showcases.

Fred Simon Gallery Reception: Carol R. Thompson: Of the Bird

The Nebraska Arts Council will host a reception for Of the Bird, including new paintings by Carol R. Thompson. The exhibition will be on display from June 11 through August 2, 2019.

POL Open Registration

Registration is now open for the 2019-20 school-year POETRY OUT LOUD encourages the nation's youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. POL is a great way to bring poetry alive for both students and teachers.
  • All Nebraska high schools are invited to participate.
  • POL is free of charge!
  • Students compete for a free trip to Washington DC and over $50,000 in scholarships and prizes.
  • POL meets many Nebraska ELA and Theatre standards, as well as NCTE standards.
  • NAC provides personalized assistance to help teachers get started and carry out the program.
  • Free artist school visits by professional performing artists and poets

Proposed $12.5m Increase to the NEA

The House of Representatives Interior Appropriations Subcommittee released its draft budget for fiscal year 2020. The bill includes a proposed funding level of $167.5 million for the National Endowment for the Arts—a significant increase from the agency’s current allocation of $155 million.

NEA Releases 2nd Major Grant Announcement in 2019

The NEA announces $80.4 million for 1,114 new awards located in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. jurisdictions.
This is the National Endowment for the Arts second major grant announcement of fiscal year 2019, and these awards continue the Arts Endowment’s commitment as the only arts funder reaching the entire country.
Awards from this round of funding come from four categories: Art Works II, Our Town, state and regional partnerships and Research: Art Works, plus a renewal in NEA Research Labs.
