Size Up Your Garden

Have you ever looked at your garden or landscape in spring and thought, “I could squeeze in another plant here, a beautiful blooming shrub there … ” and then ended the season with a crowded planting?

Adding plants to the landscape gives an immediate visual interest boost, but sometimes we only see the bare spots needing to be filled and forget to check the future size of the items we’re planting in that space!
This year, make your mantra, “put the right-sized plant in the right place.” Generally speaking, the Encore Azaleas in our Dwarf category are best suited for small spaces and planters. Petite and bloom-packed varieties like Autumn Bonfire with a size of just 3’ x 3’ can be dazzling in patio containers as small as 16” in diameter. Conversely, varieties such as Autumn Amethyst and Autumn Royalty in our Intermediate category are suited for places with slightly larger voids to fill, such as borders or foundation plantings.

Got a blank space in your landscape?  Reblooming azaleas are the remedy, delivering exciting color season after season. Read on for our suggestions on putting the right-sized azalea in your space - and discover some gorgeous reblooming choices!
