February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

People often think of domestic violence as something that happens between adults or in families, rather than a major issue for teens. However, 1 in 3 teens in Minnesota report experiencing at least one form of intimate partner violence by the time they reach 11th grade, with 1 in 6 reporting sexual violence (MN DHS). Read below to learn more about teen dating violence, hear youth perspectives on violence prevention, and find opportunites to get involved.

A Note for Our Partner Schools...

We are inspired by and grateful for all the work that our partner school districts are doing to keep students and their families safe during this time. Tubman stands with our statewide, anti-violence coalition, Violence Free Minnesota in denouncing the occupation of Minnesota by federal ICE agents, and our youth staff are committed to collaborating with our partners to promote student and family safety. We have virtual curriculum options available for remote students - reach out to us at youth@tubman with any questions or concerns.
