This month, our members are looking at health care beyond borders – both through their experiences with medicine overseas and with serving refugee populations here in our own community.

After a formative high school shadowing experience led to Dr. Celia O’Brien seeing her first C-section, it was no big surprise that she would later end up in OB-GYN. Now with Norton Women’s Care Physicians of Louisville, she loves the full breadth of care she is able to provide and loves being the “calm in the chaos.”

Louisville Medicine upcoming themes: |
April – Answering the Call to Medicine – due 3/1
A question that’s posed to physicians all the time: if you could do it over, would you do it all again? Would you restart from the day you applied to medical school? Handle residency differently? Through all the challenging years of training, a pandemic and everything in between, would you choose this path again and again?
May – Annual Report (no theme) – due 4/1
June – President’s Introduction (no theme) – due 5/1
Please reach out to Kathryn Vance at kathryn.vance@glms.org if you’d like to share your thoughts in an upcoming issue.
