Is it a boy or a girl? This weekend I will attend my first “gender reveal” party. Our sweet daughter, who does not know the gender of the child she is expecting, has invited us to come and find out with her. Only two in our world know the gender of this child. God and Melanie. Melanie, alone, has read the information from the doctor. They chose her because she can keep a secret. I don’t know why they didn’t ask me?!?
Abraham’s extended family grew while he was away. This predated electronics and the postal service. Someone must have visited and told him how the family had grown. Abraham’s brother Nahor’s wife Milkah was a mom. Her sons Uz and Buz and Kemuel were first. Then five more. Bethuel the youngest had a daughter named Rebekah. She would become important in the grand scheme of things. Nahor’s concubine Reumah also bore him four sons. Nahor had twelve sons. So did Ishmael. So would Jacob in his time.
Years ago, my mom told me my cousin had given birth to a little girl. I had spoken to Christie while she was pregnant. The doctor was concerned about whether she should have this child. She decided to keep her child. Mom told me when she was born. Eight years later they showed up on our doorstep. When my cousin died we adopted her little girl named Casey, and we have raised her as our very own. She is the one who invited us to the party this weekend. I have asked Melanie to tell me what my fourth grandchild will be. Did I mention Melanie keeps secrets really well? I’ll let you know when I know.
