Most of you know why Julie and I started Upstream Arts- how at a young age our son Caleb found a language in dance. We realized that this language allowed Caleb to connect and engage with the world around him in rich and complex ways that moved beyond the use of words. So we set forth on this journey upstream and have spent the last 12 years using creativity to change the exchange between those with and without disabilities.

But the roots of my story with Caleb go farther back than the initial discovery of new communication possibilities. At our event last month I had the pleasure of sharing a different part of the story about my adventures in parenthood. For those of you that were not in attendance, I would like to share that 5-minute story with you here:
