COMETS SNATCH VICTORY FROM THE JAWS OF DEFEAT!
Mason Varsity Comets dramatically took Monday's game, with an 8-7 walk-off victory over Oak Hills Highlanders. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the seventh when JT Vaughn singled, scoring one run.
Mason Varsity Comets came back to win despite trailing 7-1 in the fifth.
Oak Hills Varsity Highlanders jumped out to the lead in the top of the third inning after Wil Kraus singled, scoring one run, and Cooper Harrison homered to left field, scoring three runs.
Mason Varsity Comets flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the seventh, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Sam Davies on the sixth pitch of the at-bat that drove in two.
Caden Scherz earned the win for the Mason Varsity Comets. The hurler allowed zero hits and runs over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking none. Landen Seifert took the loss for Oak Hills Varsity Highlanders. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run on two hits, striking out one and walking two. Liam Sander led things off on the mound for the Mason Varsity Comets. The pitcher gave up seven hits and seven runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one. Ryan Murphy started on the hill for Oak Hills Varsity Highlanders. The starter allowed eight hits and four runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out nine and walking none.
Mason Varsity Comets accumulated 11 hits in the game. Sam Davies drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Mason Varsity Comets with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Liam Sander led the Mason Varsity Comets with three hits in four at-bats. Chase Cox and JT Vaughn each collected multiple hits for the Mason Varsity Comets. Mason Varsity Comets were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Isaac Vargo made the most plays with 12.
Cooper Harrison drove the middle of the lineup, leading Oak Hills Varsity Highlanders with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Leadoff hitter Wil Kraus led Oak Hills Varsity Highlanders with three hits in four at-bats.
