To Birthright and Beyond: A Message from Gil Preuss
Birthright Israel helps young Jews to jumpstart their Jewish journey at a crucial life stage. Just when the next generation of young Jews might be tempted to opt out of or turn away from Jewish life, Birthright Israel creates a moment of connection through a powerful shared experience. At The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, we are eager to help all who are interested to take advantage of the opportunity to visit Israel on a Birthright Israel trip. Just as importantly, we are committed to building on this immersive experience and ensuring that our community can offer alumni the stepping stones they need to continue exploring their identity and their relationship with Israel.

Federation's Pitch Night Unlocks Grant Process, Encourages Dialogue and Community
On Monday night, Federation proudly hosted our first-ever Pitch Night, welcoming more than 40 agencies and organizations to present their best and brightest ideas for impact and innovation in Jewish Greater Washington. With stakeholders from the decision-making process in the audience, the room was abuzz with energy! As one attendee noted, “The talent in our community, evidenced by the spirit and ideas presented, is a great source ready to be tapped for solving problems.” With nearly $1 million in additional resources for our strategic areas of focus raised during Federation’s 2018 Annual Campaign, we are energized, excited, and poised to enable critical impact to take shape within our community.

Together, we met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to raise awareness and advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities. This exciting and motivating day offered a fitting conclusion to Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month – and a renewed commitment to continuing this critical work.
