International Data Week 2025: Benefits and Opportunities Webinar |
This webinar will provide an overview of the benefits of participating in the upcoming International Data Week (IDW) 2025. The three member organizations, CODATA, RDA, and WDS, will explain how they fit together under IDW. Each member will share details on their organizations and how you can apply to present your work at the event, including timelines and formats.
Webinar participants will receive guidance on how to navigate the rich four-day IDW2025 program and learn what a ticket to IDW2025 will include. This webinar is open to all.

UNESCO Webinar: Shaping Resilient Futures: Open Science and Data Policies for Crisis Preparedness, Response, and Recovery |
UNESCO has partnered with the Committee on Data (CODATA) of the International Science Council (ISC) to explore how the principles of open science, as articulated in the 2021 UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science, can inform the development of effective policies for data collection, analysis, and sharing during crises. This initiative aligns with existing international frameworks and policies, emphasizing the role of open science in fostering resilient and informed responses.
The webinar aims to showcase the contributions of the global consultation to the deliverables of the UNESCO-CODATA DPTC project. Participants will also gain insights into the outcomes of UNESCO's global consultation, launched in October 2024, which gathered scientific and technical feedback to ensure these resources are both practical and effective in addressing real-world crisis management challenges.

ISC Calling Experts within Latin America and the Caribbean |
The Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Science Council is seeking experts to contribute to a pilot project on science advice in the region.
This pilot collaboration aims to provide parliamentarians with unbiased, evidence-based guidance on emerging scientific and technological developments in various focus areas:
1. Current status and future projections around climate change and eco-systems in Argentina
2. The role of artificial intelligence in circular economies
3. Water management under climate change
4. Integrating scientific evidence with traditional knowledge to strengthen the environmental and collective rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The deadline to apply is 20 January 2025.

This challenge invites participants to explore the GIRAI dataset and create visualizations that:
Simplify complex data into impactful visuals that inform audiences about Responsible AI challenges like governance gaps and human rights implications.
Reveal global and regional trends in responsible AI, showcasing disparities and progress.
Provide tools and insights for policymakers and stakeholders to drive change in AI governance practices.

Feedback Needed for SDG Classifier Demonstrator |
The SDG Classifier Demonstrator is a tool designed to support publishers in aligning with the goals of the SDG Publishers Compact, which encourages categorizing published content to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The SDG Classifier uses a pre-configured algorithm to evaluate content against specific SDG targets, then returns the number and name of all SDGs that the text matches. Stakeholders and publishers are invited to test the tool with sample data and offer feedback.
