Haldimand and Norfolk Spark Program


The January 14th deadline is fast approaching for the Haldimand & Norfolk "Spark" Program! 

Do you have a new tourism idea for Haldimand or Norfolk? Register for an upcoming Info Session (webinar) to learn more about the "Spark" Program and how to apply.

You could be selected to receive a $3000 seed grant, mentorship and additional partner support to help get you started.

Government of Canada Extends Lockdown Benefits

Employers facing a lockdown or capcity limits are eligible for the program, which aims to temporarily lower the current-month revenue loss threshold from 40 percent to 25 percent.

Ontario Announces Business Rebate Program

Online applications will open in mid-January 2022 for this program, which is available for businesses required to close or reduce capacity.

Approved applicants will receive rebate payments for a portion of the property tax and energy costs they incur while subject to these measures.

Eligible businesses required to close for indoor activities, such as restaurants and gyms, will receive a rebate payment equivalent to 100 per cent of their costs.

Add your Business or Event to the Visit Norfolk App

Have a big event coming up? Want to get your business some more exposure? Check out the Visit Norfolk App. The app has been lauded by users and features tons of info on where to go and what to do in Norfolk County. Visitors can now pre-plan their trips to Norfolk by using the App. 
If you are a Norfolk County tourism business and you are not yet included, register for the next on-boarding upload by emailing business@norfolkcounty.ca.

Ontario’s Investment Ready: Certified Site

The Site Readiness Program provides financial support to property owners to complete site preparatory work for an eligible industrial property.

Industrial properties that have completed the Site Readiness Program are attractive to investors and site selectors because they have access to important background information on the site’s availability, utilities, transportation access and/or environmental records needed to make a site selection decision quickly.

To apply for this government grant of up to $25,000.00 to get your property investment ready, click the button below. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2022.
Norfolk County is also developing an Industrial Site Registry for marketing. So if you own industrial zoned land that is ideal for development, and you would like to either pursue the Government Grant or add your site to Norfolk County’s registry, please email us at business@norfolkcounty.ca or call 519-426-5870 EXT 1264.

Government Funding Opportunities 

Ontario’s Covid 19 Safety Support and Service for Agri-food work 
Farmers and agri-food businesses can access professional advice and consulting services worth $2000 to assist with COVID-19 needs. This includes managing and identifying transmission risks to protect their workers from COVID-19. The program is paid for by the Canada Agricultural Partnership (CAP) program and is available until February 28, 2022.

From Risk To Resilience Workshop

SWOTC has partnered with Festivals & Events Ontario to offer their “From Risk to Resilience” course (vauled at up to $245!) to organizations free of charge.

This course will equiporganizations with the necessary skills to develop an effective risk managementplan. Organizations will have access to 10 self-paced video modules for 30days, totaling 10-12 hours of content, as well as event risk management toolsand templates, and a certificate of completion.

Rural Creative Springboard 

The Ontario government is investing $1 million annually to promote locally grown food and support the economic growth and success of the province’s agri-food sector. Up to $100,000 is available for marketing projects that encourages Ontarians to buy fresh, locally grown and made agri-food products. 
Examples of projects that could be eligible for funding include:

  • Branded display bins that make it easier forconsumers to identify local grown fruit at grocery stores.
  • A local print or digital marketing campaigns toboost awareness in target markets.
  • A consumer awareness campaign and launch of anew table grape variety to Ontario consumers.

Enhanced Agri-food Workplace Protection Program Extended
Now open to food and beverage processors until February 1, 2022, this Government of Ontario program is designed to help more agri-food businesses guard against the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace, and support worker/employee health and safety.

The Skills2Advance Manufacturing and Warehousing Training program will be running another cohort starting Jan. 17 to Mar. 4, 2022.

Enrolments are open and applications are being accepted.

Local Brews Win Big

A big congratulations to Charlotteville Brewing Company for winning bronze in the Amber and Brown American beer category, Wishbone Brewing Company for winning bronze in both the New England IPA and the Catharina Sour categories, and Meuse Brewing for bringing home two awards at the Ontario Brewing Awards 2021,  including GOLD for the Strong Belgian Ale.
