Summertime Flair: Azalea Companion Plants

While Encore Azaleas rebloom throughout the year, there are a few times during the season when Encores are resting up to put on another blooming show. If you’re missing that burst of color between acts, don't worry!  A supporting cast of shrubs, perennials and annuals can complement your Encores' evergreen leaves and give your summer garden a color infusion!

The white double blooms of Jubilation Gardenia relax the eye in between the bursts of white-and-coral bicolor blooms on the new Autumn Starburst Encore Azalea. Bonus: Jubilation’s flowers have a delightfully intoxicating fragrance!

The bright red-orange tubular flowers of Bells of Fire Tecoma are awesome as understudies to the fiery red blooms of Autumn Bonfire. Another plant with a bonus: pollinators adore the perennial!

Gerbera Daisies may be the prettiest and most underused annual out there. The Garden Jewels series of gerberas are cheery, colorful daisies sitting atop foot-tall stems. Pink and Frosted Hot Pink pair particularly well with Autumn Carnation, adding rosy hues to the space while the azalea is in-between periods of medium pink blooming.

We've got even more suggestions for shrubs, perennials and annuals that are glad to take center stage while your blooms are on summer break, so read on!
