CARE and CalWORKs Cultivate Connection in the Bees Garden |
On Friday, March 28, the CARE and CalWORKs Programs brought students and their children together for a hands-on afternoon in the IVC Bees Garden. The Horticulture Therapy Workshop offered parenting students a chance to slow down, dig in, and connect—with the earth and each other. This month, IVC celebrated Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Awareness Month. DEIA Day, held on April 4, spotlighted the social model of accessibility, challenging attendees to move beyond mere compliance and embrace strategies rooted in empowerment and inclusion. IVC Speech Wins Back-to-Back 1st Place Team Sweepstakes Awards Following South Korea Competition |
After winning 161 awards over 21 days of competition this season, the IVC Speech Team tested their talents by competing at the 35th Annual International Forensics Association (IFA) Speech and Debate Championships in Incheon South Korea. Two representatives for IVC Speech, Alex Velez and Tymen Koetsier, had the trip of a lifetime competing against students from 27 other colleges and universities. Read More about IVC Speech Team »

Men's Tennis Goes to No. 1 Ventura and Pulls Off Upset |
The Irvine Valley men's tennis team finished the regular season as the second-place team in the Orange Empire Conference and was just the No. 4 seed in the SoCal playoffs. But with a now healthy roster, the Lasers went on the road and upset No. 1 Ventura, 5-3, on Tuesday. Irvine Valley won two of three matches in doubles to start and nearly swept. Sophomores Nick Grove and Luciano Pardo, who won the 3C2A doubles title last season, won 8-4, on the No. 1 court. IVC also got a big 8-3 victory from the No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Luis Moros and freshman Nevin McCann. Read More About Men's Tennis »

On April 11, the ESL Department hosted a celebration recognizing the achievements of Adult ESL (AESL) students who earned a Certificate of Competency over the past year. Acclaimed Musician Lands a Dream Job at IVC |
Grammy-nominated saxophonist Anibal Seminario has big plans for Irvine Valley College’s (IVC) jazz program. Seminario, who joined IVC as director of its jazz ensembles last year, is keenly focused on elevating the school’s jazz offerings. And he is well on the way. According to Mathieu Girardet, director of instrumental music for IVC, in just three semesters Seminario has helped double the school’s jazz enrollment, establishing a second jazz ensemble.
