Things are heating up this summer at the Missouri School of Journalism. Earlier this month, we announced the newest class of Missouri Honor Medalists: Global CEO of VML and WPP Creative Jon Cook; influential news executive and philanthropic leader Alberto Ibargüen; and acclaimed reporter and anchor Judy Woodruff, who spent decades as one of the most recognizable faces of PBS NewsHour. They will accept their awards in Columbia on Sept. 23, but you don’t have to wait that long to read more about them and catch up on what’s going on at the world’s first and finest journalism school.

Missouri Regional Reporting Fellowship |
Senior Jake Ciancio is the inaugural recipient of the J-School’s Missouri Regional Reporting Fellowship. Funded by alumna Laura Barnitz, BJ ’86, the program combats expanding news deserts by placing journalism students in underserved communities where they gain valuable community reporting experience. | Missouri Method in Action
|
In early May, students from the J-School and the College of Arts and Science led an oral history tour across the Mizzou campus. Using historical 1930s and 1940s audio recordings digitized with the help of a Missouri Humanities Council grant, the class brought campus history to life. The students also produced “audio portraits” that aired on KBIA-FM.
