The Vanguard School continues to iron out the details to welcome our first cohort of students and staff back to campus on Monday, October 26, 2020. Simultaneously, we are also working out the details for the over 30 students across all Vanguard programs who will remain virtual. The balance of staff assignments is a delicate matter when working with a fixed number of employees, but we continue to recruit new educators as we make assignments with our existing staff.
You will start to receive e-blasts from your Vanguard School Directors and/or Program Supervisors over the next several days. In fact, you should all have received an email this week regarding your student’s assigned days for in-person instruction. We have placed students into Cohorts and your student is assigned to either Cohort A or Cohort B. If you did not receive this email, please reach out to your student’s program supervisor. If you are unsure of who that is, please respond to this email with your comment/question and we will make sure your email gets to the right person.
We are planning for classroom prep days for our educators and related services staff. The week of October 19, your student will have one day of asynchronous instruction, meaning, your student will be asked to watch educational videos, complete worksheets and partake in reading assignments on that day. There will be an educator virtually checking in on your students, but there will not be live instruction. This will allow all Vanguard employees to have a prep day to be ready to welcome students back on October 26. Below is the schedule for each Cohort’s asynchronous instruction day:
- Cohort A – ES (50%), MS and VTC – Thursday, October 22
- Cohort B – ES (50%) and HS – Friday, October 23
Thank you for working with us as we prepare for in-person instruction. We are looking forward to seeing students and staff back on campus very soon.
