College of Human Sciences E-Viewpoints Newsletter
October 2018
Alumni and Friends,
Welcome to the latest issue of E-Viewpoints, the newsletter of the Texas Tech University College of Human Sciences. It’s hard to believe we are off and running, well into a new academic year. This one has brought with it many changes for the college. You will read about the retirement of our Executive Associate Dean, Lynn Huffman, who has been with us for almost 40 years. At the retirement celebration, we were pleased to announce the establishment of the Lynn Huffman Faculty Support Endowment. If you would like to contribute to this fund in Lynn’s honor, please call (806) 742-3031. While Lynn will be sorely missed, we were fortunate to welcome back former department chair, Dottie Durband, to take on the role of Associate Dean for Academics and Faculty Development. Dottie will also serve as a faculty member in the Department of Personal Financial Planning.

I am pleased to share that Robert Paul Jones was named chair of the Department of Hospitality and Retail Management (HRM) in July. You can learn more about Robert and HRM’s progress in Costa Rica in this E-Viewpoints issue. Last year we shared the exciting news that Texas Tech was planning to open a campus in Costa Rica and that one of the founding programs on that campus is our Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management program. The campus is now open and the first group of students is attending classes in the beautiful facility.

We hope to see you during Human Sciences Day on the evening of October 19th at our Homecoming Parade Watch Party in celebration of Texas Tech's Homecoming! Celebrate your Texas Tech spirit and enjoy free food, kids activities, and grab some swag while watching the Homecoming Parade from the best seat in the house. For more information and to RSVP, visit the event page here.

Thank you for taking the time to read about just a few of the wonderful things happening in the College of Human Sciences. We’d love to hear from you, and I encourage you to share your stories with us here.
