Impactful Speakers Headline 2017 Oregon Governor's Conference on Tourism

Iceland's rugged landscapes and views of the northern lights have put it on the map as a popular travel destination, with the country seeing annual increases of 20-30 percent in visitation. While growth in the travel sector is generally positive, it has brought plenty of challenges. Join us in welcoming Ólöf Ýrr Atladóttir, Director General of the Icelandic Tourist Board, to the 2017 Oregon Governor's Conference on Tourism, where she will tell us about Iceland's approach to the changing global tourism economy, how it relates to Oregon's destination carrying capacity, and what it means for the role of Destination Management Organizations. Registration is open for the May 10-12 conference at the Salem Convention Center. View the agenda and learn more about this year's speakers.

Jan. 31 is National Plan for Vacation Day

Tomorrow is the most important #TravelTuesday of the year: National Plan for Vacation Day. Americans wasted 658 million vacation days last year alone! Don't let that happen this year. Set aside time to #PlanForVacation to ensure that you aren't part of the 55 percent of Americans that failed to use all of their time off. As a member of Oregon's travel and tourism industry, be sure to spread the word and promote Project: Time Off to your employees and encourage them to take their vacations. See the power in planning and spread the word with this toolkit.

Bring your grant-related questions for this opportunity to have one-on-one time with the different funders. Organized by the Oregon Cultural Trust, these free events are open to the public and do not require a registration to attend.
