Highlights from 4-H Afterschool and Community Programs |
|
|
|
Submitted by Misty Jimenez, 4-H Associate Educator
Over the past few months, youth in Afterschool and Community Programs jumped into exciting, hands-on 4-H programs!
At The Arc of Fond du Lac, youth took part in LEGO programs, working on build challenges and sharing their creations. They also explored life science through a Chick Hatching program where they learned about how chicks develop and hatch.
Youth at Chegwin Boys and Girls Club learned more about the animals that live in Wisconsin through a Wildlife program, with opportunities to explore furs, skulls, and tracks up close.
At Roberts Boys and Girls Club, youth explored science in action through a Fun With Science program, where hands-on experiments sparked curiosity and helped bring exciting science concepts to life.

Rosendale 4-H Club: May 31, 2026 |
Submitted by Reporter, Eli Curtis
The Rosendale 4-H Club met on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Peace Lutheran Church.
After we made coasters for Dad, Mac Gillett, President, called the meeting to order at Peace Lutheran Church. We continued the meeting with the pledges. Next, we had roll call. Then, we skipped the secretary’s report and had the treasurer’s report.
For old business, we reminded members to check the newsletter to register for Cloverbud day camp and grades 3 and up camp where events will be held throughout the summer. A New Family Fair orientation will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd, at 6:00 p.m. Food’s review registration is open and will be held on June 17th at 6:00 p.m. Members turned in their raffle ticket stubs and money.
For new business, we reminded members that 4-H Record Books will be due to Ashley by August 16th. All of the info is on the FDL County 4-H website. Ashley can share the folder she has with members too. Our club is signed up to work the Adult Leaders Food Stand on Tuesday, July 14th, during judging from 12:45 p.m to 3:45 p.m. We need at least 4 members and a few adults to work. Time is ticking. Fair entry registration is open and due by midnight on June 17th. Dairy IDs are also due at that time. Wisconsin DATCP has announced that it is not requiring milk cows to be tested for bird flu before being taken to the fair. Pre-fair judging is Thursday, July 9th, and Tuesday, July 14th, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Once you pick up your entry tags, you will need to set up a time to be judged for each project you enter. There is a mandatory Market Livestock meeting on Sunday, July 12th, at 3:00 p.m. or Tuesday, July 14th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Cow Palace. The Small Animal project dates are Monday, June 15th, at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, June 27th, at 9:00 a.m. for set-up (mandatory to show and sell), and Tuesday, July 7th, at 6:30 p.m. to learn showmanship skills for poultry and rabbits. These meetings will be held in the small animal barn. Let the project committee know if you cannot attend. Youth in grades 12 and 13 should complete their graduation survey to let the office know if they are graduating or staying in 4-H. Also, please let Ashley know if you will be graduating. 4-H graduation will be on Sunday, July, 19th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Expo Building at the FDL County Fair.
Our next meeting will be Sunday, July 5th at 5 p.m. for the club tour. Please let Ashley know if you want to take part, so we stop by your house.

Pack your bags—it’s time for a world adventure!
|
Join us as we travel the globe and explore different cultures without leaving camp! Campers will dive into fun activities like sports and geography games, listen to music from around the world, create cultural crafts, and even taste traditional foods.
Each day, we’ll visit two different countries—one in the morning and one in the afternoon—collecting passport stamps along the way. By the end of camp, participants will have earned 6 unique stamps!
Along the journey, youth will also learn about each country’s history, customs, and language, making this an unforgettable cultural experience.

It’s a fun and practical way to apply what they learn right away!

Where: Fond du Lac County Campus (FCC), 400 University Dr., Room 205/206
Registration is required by June 22 at https://forms.gle/nNqQWeAA8MrxQN9G6 so we can plan materials for the hands-on activity.
