Ahoy there matey! The Erie Playhouse Youtheatre proudly presents, Backbeard the Musical, based on the popular children's books by Matthew McElligott. Backbeard (Shane Work) is the stinkiest, hairiest pirate to ever sail the seven seas. He always follows the rules in the pirate handbook, but when a birthday party goes wild, he's forced to reevaluate what it means to be a pirate. This rollicking musical tells the tale of Backbeard and his quest to answer the question, "How should a pirate look?" This show is a high-spirited story of courage, acceptance, and standing up for who you are. Join Backbeard and his crew as they tell the story of Backbeard the musical for the first time on stage! Batten down the hatches and sail the entire family over to this hilarious high seas tale!

Kate Neubert-Lechner, Executive Director |
| Dear Playhouse Friends,
I wanted to take a minute to thank a group of Playhouse volunteers who are all incredible, unsung heroes. They’re the Erie Playhouse Wing. You may not realize it, but they provide so much support to the Playhouse and the staff to help with office needs, like new computers, to help purchase new instruments for the orchestra, to provide scholarships for kids to attend Youtheatre camps and classes, to sponsor our Youtheatre Play Series, making it possible for the kids to perform over the summer. They do all this and so much more and the staff and I are beyond grateful for them. Right now, they need you. The Wing has a small, dedicated group who have been shouldering all the responsibility and they need help! If you’ve always wanted to get involved, but onstage or backstage never seemed to be in your comfort zone, then maybe the Wing is where you’ll shine! You can find more information here on our website: www.erieplayhouse.org/get-involved/the-wing or contact me (kate@erieplayhouse.org) and I’ll put you in touch with Wing leadership. Thanks for all your support…and thank you to our unsung heroes, the Playhouse Wing.
