Marie's Message

Wisconsin 4-H AmeriCorps programs aim to increase the capacity of youth-serving organizations in counties throughout Wisconsin. The members will work directly with community partnerships in youth-serving organizations to discover opportunities to grow capacity and reach new young people or develop new youth programming. Member will be located primarily at Extension Dodge County but may travel around the county. Members return to their private residences each night and will serve on projects in and around Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Member Benefits:

Make a difference in the community, be part of a dedicated service team, build your resume, and get things done! In addition, members receive:

· Opportunity for student loan forbearance

· Living stipend (paid bi-weekly): $10,000 over the term of service

· AmeriCorps Education Awarded after the successful term of service: $3,447.50

· Position time is January-August 30, 2024, approximately 28 hours per week.

· Half-time members are required to serve 900 hours over the term of service. Service hours for Dodge County may include possible overnights and planned weekend days.

Club Happenings

Leipsic (Max Luedtke) New officers were installed and received rousing applause from the room. Song and cheerleaders lead a rowdy rendition of Happy Birthday, much to the enjoyment of all in attendance.

County Line (Samantha Schwandt) The club talked about the Ashippun treelighting/Santa visit and voted yes to make cookies and hot chocolate for the event. Our very own Landon Wendorf participated in the World Dairy Fitting Contest at the World Dairy Expo and did well.

Dane Laufenberg - Astico Perserverance

Halloween Costume Contest. We had 3 categories: Cloverbud, Members, and Officers. There was a winner decided by popular vote in each category. Winners were: Josie Zander (officer): Oscar the Grouch, Alana Zander (member): Alien, and Taya Kurth (Cloverbud): Wednesday.

Hats off to the Dodge County 4-H Youth and Adults who attended the Fall Forum last weekend.

Congratulations to the new youth and adult members of the Wisconsin 4-H Leadership Council who were elected at the Fall Forum conference, November 4-5, 2023, at the Green Lake Conference Center. Youth and adults from across the state applied to be part of the new council and went through an election process to be selected for the 2023-24 council.

Dodge County 4-H sponsors a variety of member educational experience scholarships available to 4-H youth in grade 6 or higher. To be considered you MUST complete the M.E. (Member Evaluation) Forms. Fill out the category color that matches your HIGHEST CATEGORY trip choice.

50% financial assistance is provided for these educational experiences by the Dodge County 4-H Leader’s Association and Beaver Dam Agri-Business. These groups would like to encourage youth to take advantage of these educational trip opportunities that are only possible through 4-H.

National 4-H Conference is a premier leadership and civic engagement opportunity, where youth will get the chance to work with a branch of the Federal Government on an action plan, visit with Legislators, and explore Washington DC!

Wisconsin 4-H Foundation- Celebrates the Arts

The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation provides support for arts and communications programs that encourage youth to develop strong leadership, creative, and communication skills. Each year the Foundation highlights 4-H artists through the Celebrate the Arts art contest.

This year’s contest runs from November 1, 2023, through January 15, 2024

Want to help out with 4-H? Volunteer!

If you are 18 years or older and interested in becoming a 4-H volunteer, we can help. We will provide new volunteers with (VIP) Volunteers in Preparation Training about how to work effectively with youth and what resources are available to volunteers. We will also ask you to participate in a Mandated Reporter Training to learn more about how to protect youth from child abuse and neglect. Finally, to ensure the safety of all youth and volunteers, a Volunteer Behavior Expectations Agreement and background check are required.

Depending on their role, some volunteers may be asked to complete subject matter-specific training as well as training to enrich their knowledge of youth development (for example chaperones or Shooting Sports leaders).

All volunteers, both new and returning, are also required to take training on how to report sexual misconduct. Answers to questions about reporting and training are available on our FAQ page.
