New Parent Newsletter - May 18

To help keep newly enrolled families on track, we are pleased to share the third issue of the New Parent Newsletter, which is a digest of important and timely items from the New Parent Page at marist.com/newparent.

You will receive the fourth and final New Parent Newsletter on Thursday, June 1. After that date, you will receive the June, July, and August editions of the Weekly Way Newsletter, which is sent to all current parents, in addition to miscellaneous school communications.

Previous issues of the newsletter and full details regarding the information below are available on the New Parent Page, which we will continue to update through the summer.

Peer Leaders
Peer Leaders enjoyed meeting their peer kids at the recent “War Eagle Welcome” event, and they are excited to support new students as they begin their Marist journey.

Peer Leaders will be in touch with their peer kids throughout the summer via text and phone. They are also expected to meet in person at least twice. Additionally, each peer group will host a social in August, so please look for an Evite in late July. Peer groups are composed of approximately 20 new students in the same grade and their peer leaders.

On a final note, we want your child’s transition to Marist to be as smooth as possible. Are there any special circumstances or details you would like your child’s Peer Leader to know? For the timeliest response, please email us at peerleader@marist.com.

Summer Reading 2023
New students, begin planning now for summer reading.
  • What's required? All new students must submit the Summer Reading Pledge promising to read at least one book for pleasure this summer. Choose a book from any genre or subject that is appropriate for you and that you have not already read.
  • What’s due when school starts? Two short responses are due on the first day of school: a six-word reflection on your reading and a brief paragraph.
  • Is summer reading in addition to projects assigned by teachers? Yes, for example, “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey is also required for incoming 7th grade students.
  • How can I learn more? Visit the Summer Reading website at marist.com/summerreading.
