The International Student Support Initiative (ISSI) is a centralized, coordinated, and comprehensive hub for NYU’s international student community. A collaboration between the Office of Global Services (OGS) and the Center for Student Life (CSL), ISSI is dedicated to not only support international students at NYU, but also to provide resources and expertise to create academic, co-curricular, and social opportunities for sustained, cross-cultural learning.

Voice Your Opinion in an Upcoming Focus Group
ISSI is facilitating a series of ongoing focus groups with international students. The purpose of these focus groups is to broaden our understanding of students' opinions, experiences, and perspectives on current and future programming. This focus group will focus on final semester support and transitioning to life after graduation. We'll provide 2 movie tickets and lunch for the time you spend in the group with us!

How to prepare your OPT application for the US government (USCIS)
After you've received your new OPT I-20, you should attend this session where an OGS advisor will go over how to prepare your OPT application for USCIS. Attend this session to make sure your OPT application meets all the guidelines, before you submit it to USCIS!

Post-Completion OPT Workshop
This workshop is designed to give you a firm understanding of what OPT is (it's a form of work authorization for students in F-1 status), how to apply for OPT, the processing timeline, what documents you’ll need, travel advice, and reporting requirements. We also briefly cover tax, health insurance, and OPT extensions.

STEM OPT Webinar
STEM OPT is an additional 24 months of OPT work authorization for students with a US degree in certain majors of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. During this webinar, we will review eligibility for the extension, the application process, reporting responsibilities, travel, and how Cap Gap extension often overlaps with the STEM extension.

Professional Conversation Hour - Leveraging Your Job/Internship for Career Success
Meet with other students to practice professional language skills while gaining a better understanding of the US job search, workplace, and networking culture. Conversations during this session will focus on how to leverage your job or summer internships for future career success.
Careers in Social Impact
A panel of industry professionals will share insights into various types of career trajectories in the social impact field. After the panel you'll have an opportunity to network with the professionals. If you're interested in careers in non-profits, government, education, public health, disability rights, etc. we encourage you to register and attend.
Students of Color Career Dialogues: Finding Your People
Build community with fellow students of color, as we discuss potential barriers in networking and learn techniques on how to leverage your capital and effectively find, build, and sustain meaningful connections here at NYU and beyond. Through guided conversation and activities, you will learn how to expand your network so that you can feel better prepared to showcase what you have to offer in terms of experience, knowledge, and skills. All self-identified students of color are welcome!
