Bridgeport City News | Bill Finch, Mayor

"Mayor Finch: Bridgeport is safe for families" - Connecticut Post
Top officials of the Bridgeport police department presented statistics to show that the Park City is safer than Hartford and New Haven.
You can read that Connecticut Post story here.
Here is a portion of a statement released by Mayor Bill Finch in response:
“I’m the father of four kids who were born and raised in Bridgeport. And, I’m proud to say that our city is safer and stronger today than any other time that I can remember. It’s resulting in Bridgeport being a place where more people want to live and work, where more companies want to invest and hire people, and where our strong communities are helping to make for an even stronger economy."
"A second chance for a first impression" - Connecticut Post
Work is underway to turn the The long-vacant Bridgeport Metal Goods factory, mere feet from the Interstate 95 on-ramp headed northbound at exit 25 into a U-Haul storage and truck-rental facility.
When complete, the building should look as it did in the city’s industrial heyday, and create 35 to 50 permanent jobs, officials said.
“We’re going from nothing to something here,” Mayor Bill Finch said. “That’s good news.”

"Plan announced to develop Bridgeport factory" - News 12

Mayor Bill Finch spoke with News 12 about a plan that will breathe new life into a vacant factory along I-95.
A New York-based real estate developer has signed a deal to redevelop a five acre block along Cherry Street.
"Bridgeport Accepts President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Community Challenge" - Connecticut Post
Just days before Bridgeport, Conn. welcomes President Barack Obama, Mayor Bill Finch and Congressman Jim Himes joined community leaders in announcing that the state’s largest city will be accepting the President’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Community challenge.
Launched earlier this year, the MBK initiative aims to ensure that all kids have an opportunity to succeed and are prepared to compete for 21st century jobs, according to the White House (Link: http://1.usa.gov/1rGqwbY). For the MBK challenge, Bridgeport will focus on two key areas: ensuring kids are reading at the level they should be by third grade, and making sure young people are safe from violent crime.
At the announcement, Mayor Finch noted that increasing access to pre-k and cracking down on crime are two areas where Bridgeport is making progress, but there’s still more work to do.

All rock bands want to be like the Beatles; these guys have the nerve to BE the Beatles.
