From the Camp Director,

We are so excited to have registration up and runnning and kids signing up for camp. I'm so excited to get started and have young people running around the property again.
As we get closer to having camp this year, I just wanted to remind you  how valuable it can be to invest in the training and discipling of young people. When you support the work of Hanging Rock you are investing in the future-in the the lives of boys and girls. According to scripture, Timothy had been taught the Word of God from infancy and it bore fruit later in his life. In fact, it is the scriptures that posess the power to lead one to Salvation. This is why it is so important to be planting God's truth and not just your thoughts and ideas, into the hearts and minds of young people.
2 Timothy 3:14-15 - But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Please be in prayer for our staff, the Event Coordinators and faculty as we will be in preparations for this summer. Once again, we are excited to have young people back to Hanging Rock again.
If you want to partner with us and invest in the lives of young people we would really appreciate that.

Summer Camp 2021

Registration is up and running and people are signing up for camp!
We want you to know, that we are still planning to be at 50-60% capacity for this summer, as of right now. But, as the guidelines start to lift so will our guidelines.
We are working to ensure that campers, faculty, and camp staff are safe and have a great time at HRCA. In addition to our regular cleaning and sanitation measures we will be implementing other safe practices.

·     Additional hand sanitizing stations will be available in more common areas i.e. Dining Hall, LDC, Chapel

·      Additional screening during check-in with a         temperature check

·      Changes to salad bar and cereal bar

·      More routine cleaning of high traffic areas i.e. restrooms, Dining Hall, LDC, Chapel, Dorms, door handles, rec equipment

·   Other changes as guided by Local and State Health Officials

We are following Local and State Health guidelines in regards to mask usage for campers, faculty and camp staff and will continue to monitor best practices regarding masks.

Like we said, as guidelines for covid-19 restrictions lift so will ours.
We would like to encourage people to sign up for camp as early as possible to make sure we have the space available for your children.

New Maintenance/Wilderness Director

We are so excited to have Drew & Diana Follmer join us here at Hanging Rock. The Board voted unanimously to hire Drew as our new Maintenance/Wilderness Director. Drew will begin the first week of August.
Drew is currently the Executive Director at Central Iowa Bible Camp, where he has been since November of 2004.

Drew & Diana feel that it is the right time for them to see what other adventures God has in store for them and CIBC.
They bring to Hanging Rock a love for camp, with over 20 years of being a Camp Director, time serving on a camp board while he was preaching, lots of ideas, energy and 7 horses.
As the Maintenance/Wilderness Director, Drew will oversee the Maintenance of Hanging Rock and work directly with the camps that happen on the back property.
We are so excited to have them join this ministry.

Cereal! Cereal!
Cereal! We need your cereal! Since we will not be hosting our annual Celebrate Good Times event this year, we need your help! We normally get all of our cereal for the year donated that day. This is where you come in to play. Can you help collect cereal at your house or church? Can you help transport the cereal to camp? Are you someone who will donate cereal either at the collection center at church or bring them to camp? If you answered YES to any or all of those questions, then you are just the right person for the job! Here is how you can help. Talk to the Elders or Preacher at your church and tell them you want your church to lead the way in cereal donations to the camp. Figure out where you can collect the boxes of cereal at the church and then help coordinate the drop off to the camp. Then, be the cheerleader for cereal! Encourage others to donate boxes of cereal. Contact businesses and see if they can help donate boxes. Challenge your Sunday School classes or Small Groups to donate boxes. Let's make this year our biggest cereal collection in the history of cereal collection. We would need your donations by June 6th for our first week of camp. You can reach out to me at toddblair@hangingrock.org and coordinate drop off or pick up of your donations. Let's create some friendly competition among our churches. Let's create a hashtag that you can use on social media to encourage others to donate cereal for camp and keep up to date on how we are doing with our donations. I challenge our churches to see who can donate the most boxes of cereal. Can your church do 25 boxes? 50 boxes? 100 boxes? Let's give it a try and see what we can do. Follow our progress on the camp's Facebook page with the hashtag #CerealForHRCA if you are on social media be sure to tag the camp or Todd Blair in your post using that hashtag and let's challenge each other to donate cereal for our campers this summer!
