The 2022 tax filing deadline is not until April 18, 2023, but it’s never too early to takes steps toward successful tax preparation. The fourth and final 2022 Quarterly Estimated Tax Deadline is January 18, 2023. Whether this is your first time paying estimated taxes or your tenth, you may have questions. Please take some time to watch our 2022 Estimated Tax Workshop along with our other Financial Wellness resources, and reach out to gradhelp@uchicago.edu with your questions related to taxes and University payments.

This 45-Minute Presentation will provide general strategies and information on how to improve or maintain your financial wellness as a graduate student. Liz Fox Haslwanter from UChicagoGRAD will cover the basics on understanding your money and credit, tax withholding and planning, managing student loans, accessing assistance for immediate financial needs, and strategies for saving.

| Preparing for Academic Job Market Interviews

In this workshop you'll learn some strategies and best practices to help you prepare for interviews for faculty positions on the academic job market. We'll talk about typical questions to expect, strategies for the content and structure of your answers. This workshop is intended for advanced PhD students and postdocs applying for faculty and postdoctoral positions, as well as any other graduate student or postdoc interested in learning more about the academic job market process.

IGSAB Applications: Apply by November 6
The International Graduate Student Advisory Board (IGSAB) is now accepting general board applications for the 2022-2023 academic year. The goal of IGSAB is to coordinate communication, centralize efforts in advocacy and supportive programming, and plan activities to enrich the academic, personal, and professional experience of international students at UChicago.

Join the International Allies Program: Apply by November 6
The International Allies Program is a peer-to-peer mentorship program designed to provide support, community, and resources for international graduate students to adapt to life in the US and at UChicago. Students in their second year and beyond will serve as mentors to international students in their first or second year of graduate school.

Arts, Science, and Culture Graduate Collaboration Grant: Proposals due Oct 31
Funding available to support transdisciplinary research between graduate students in the humanities, sciences, and social sciences. Propose a project for two or more students, at least one in the arts and one in the sciences or social sciences, to work together to investigate a subject from the perspectives offered by each discipline. Green Fund Review Committee
Are you a graduate student interested in reviewing Green Fund proposals during the 2022-2023 school year? Apply to the Green Fund Review Committee by October 21! Chosen students will participate in different roles within the Review Committee during Autumn and Winter Quarters, Weeks 5-7. Participants should be prepared to dedicate several hours to reviewing during these weeks. And yes, you can be on the Review Committee AND apply to the Green Fund, just not in the same cycle. If you are interested in helping to make inspiring, sustainable research and campus projects a reality, we encourage you to apply!

Gentle Yoga Tuesdays, 5:30–6:30 p.m., Rockefeller Chapel
A slow, meditative yoga class for all, whether you have experience with yoga or want to try it out for the first time. This class is designed for unwinding at the end of the day, with special attention to moving the body in ways that combat the negative effects of long periods of sitting and computer use. Wear any comfortable clothing that you can move in.
20 Minutes Still Meditation Thursdays, 12:30-12:50 p.m., Ida Noyes 034 Take a pause during the day, still the mind and body. No experience necessary, open to those of all spiritual backgrounds.
Mindful Breath Community Meditation Tuesdays, 6–7:15 p.m., Ida Noyes 034
A meditation group with a focus on supporting community, creating a healthy and nourishing environment where people can learn the art of living in harmony with one another and with the earth. The session includes 30 mins sitting and 10 mins walking meditation, followed by sharing and discussion. No prior experience necessary. All are welcome.

The mission of the University of Chicago Student Recovery Group is to provide fellowship and support for University of Chicago students who are in recovery or exploring sobriety. Who is the modern mystic? In this no-prep required, non-credit course on the history of mysticism, professors Bernard McGinn, Anne Astell, and others will introduce participants to modern mystics, addressing Thomas Merton, Gustavo Gutierrez, Edith Stein, Howard Thurman, and more.
